2011 Excellence inTransportation Award On April 26th 2011, CH2M Hill and McAlvain Construction (MCI) was recognized by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) for work performed during the design and construction of the East ParkCenter River Crossing Project. At this year’s award banquet, ITD presented CH2M Hill with a 2011 Excellence in Transportation Award for the design; MCI was presented an award in excellence for construction of the project. MCI’s recognition includes: its ability to work closely with all those involved to reduce user impacts during construction including keeping recreational paths open throughout the duration of the project and minimizing noise impacts during pile driving activities; no issues or impacts while delivering the 150 foot girders to the site; value engineering efforts in reducing construction schedule and potential for environment impacts; timely delivery – the bridge opened six weeks ahead of schedule; the total construction cost for the project came in under the original construction budget.

East Parkcenter River Crossing
The East Parkcenter River Crossing project consists of the construction of a 440 foot, two span steel girder bridge across the Boise River; a 110 foot precast concrete single span bridge across the walling ditch; and a 36 foot single span precast arch across Logger’s Creek. Two 14 foot wide pedestrian tunnels were also constructed to provide safe access under the roadway for pedestrians on the popular Boise Greenbelt.
