DESIGN/BUILD > Many Owners are recognizing the advantages of bypassing traditional construction methods and choosing the design-build approach.  McAlvain Design Build (MDBI) is able to manage both the design and construction of a project in such a fashion as to bring maximum synergy to your project.  Our past experience has taught us that architects and engineers can gain valuable insight from exposure to the ultimate construction team. At the same time, the construction team derives reciprocal benefits by getting a clearer idea of the architect's intentions. Early involvement of architects, engineers, contractors and developers provide excellent cost and schedule benefits. This early involvement approach is being used now more than ever. As the design gels, the construction team can also begin construction of your project much earlier than would otherwise be the case.  Clearly this approach brings huge cost advantages for your project.

How the Design/Build process works: The design-build method provides single-source responsibility to a client.  Throughout the Design Phase, McAlvain Design Build (MDBI) works directly with the Owner's Representative and other design consultants.  McAlvain's extensive construction experience, together with its cost estimators, project managers, and subcontractor relations will be brought to bear on the design portion of your project to ensure that all aspects of the design can be quickly, efficiently and economically converted into a finished project.  MDBI’s unique model of Design Build management allows the aesthetic integrity of your project to shine while maintaining close cost controls and detailing accuracy: crossing over from the design phase into the construction phase and beyond.

During the Construction Phase, at the same time your project is being designed, McAlvain will put in place the safety, quality control, and project management programs that will guide the project to successful completion. During the preliminary design phase, McAlvain will also initiate contact with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that the necessary material, personnel, technology, and expertise are available in the most effective manner.

The organization described above is the same basic organizational structure that this team has used, modified, and improved on during the course of constructing numerous extremely successful design build projects. It is an organizational structure we are confident will allow our team to complete your project safely, quickly, and economically, while providing the highest levels of quality.
