David Hurley
Assistant Project Manager

David joined McAlvain in 2015 and has served  on the Argyros Performing Arts Facility, Whitetail Lake Clubhouse Renovation, JRW 3rd Floor Remodel, Rivers Edge Student Apartments, Coffee Mill at Harris Ranch and the Dixie Drain Phosphorus Removal Facility projects.  As Assistant Project Manager, David’s responsibilities include project management, scheduling, directing, coordinating and supervising project related field operations to successful completion on time and within budget.

Question & Answer:

When did you join McAlvain?  I’ve worked for McAlvain for over 3.5 years.  I have worked on projects ranging from 200k to upwards of 10 million dollars from water treatment facilities to retail and beyond.

How long have you worked within the construction industry?  I began working in the construction industry about 8.5 years ago.  5 years in heavy civil and 3.5 in commercial construction.

What made you choose construction as a career?  I guess you would say I followed in my father’s footsteps. Never in my life did I think I’d be in construction.  My father has spent years in the construction industry and when he offered me a great career opportunity I took it and haven’t looked back.

What are you most passionate about?  I would say I am most passionate about the attention to detail and organization, it’s rewarding to see these two things happen in what can otherwise appear as a chaotic environment.

About yourself?  I have lived all over the U.S, spent time in the U.S Army both at home and overseas. Most of my immediate family is here in Boise along with my daughter, Samantha, who is 4 years old.

What Hobbies do you like to do in your spare time?  In general, I enjoy any time spent outdoors.  I like rafting and sitting around a campfire with friends and family.

What project are you currently working on?  I am currently working on some facilities improvements for various ACHD locations.  Most recently, I completed an office remodel for the Idaho Division of Public Works and exterior improvements to a retail building at the Boise Center on the Grove.

What do you enjoy about working at McAlvain or working in construction?  The thing I enjoy most about McAlvain is the tight knit family atmosphere.  As far as the career, I enjoy the rapid pace of things, the variety of projects and the ability to see the results of your work ever day.

Have you received any awards within the construction industry?  The Whitetail Lake Clubhouse Renovation project recently took 1st place as one of the Idaho Business Review’s 2018 Top Projects.
